Back of Olympus FL-300RThe top part needs to be prised away from the flash, held on by double-sided tapeTop flap removed to reveal the two screws which need to be removed. There are also two screws at the base of the camera which need to be removed (total 4 screws).The front of the flash comes apart once the 4 screws are removed.The fresnel lens needs to be prised away at the edgesWith fresnel lens removed. Now refit the 4 screws and the front of the flash.There is a wide-angle diffuser which can serve as protection of the Xenon tube
As you can see, the flash can be angled for macro or to 90 degrees for storage.
