The Pleiades M45

Subject number 3 – Pleiades. Previously my attempts at this subject has been with shorter 2 minute subs. Now that I am able to guide and capture 5 minute subs accurately, I decided to use longer subs to capture more detail of the Seven Sisters.

Again I captured multiple (over 15 frames) of 5 min subs on a moonless night and stacked them with Deep Sky Stacker using Kappa-Sigma Clipping. I then processed the image using StarTools.

Equipment:

iOptron ZEQ25 mount, Skywatcher ED80 with Astro-Physics CCDT67 telecompressor, Full spectrum Olympus E-PL5, Lacerta MGEN autoguider, Orion thin Off-axis guider, 2″ Astronomik CLS-CCD filter, Dew heater, Ye!! power pack and Sunsbell power pack.

Below is the best image of Pleiades I’ve managed so far.

Pleiades - stack of 5 minute subs
Pleiades – stack of 5 minute subs

Again, I am very pleased with the result, but suspect that I can get even better images in the future using LRGB (I hope).
