Previously I had photographed the house fly using the Leica Focotar-II 50mm F4.5 lens. But I thought I would try and capture the housefly at even higher magnification. To do this, I enlisted the help of the JML 20x microscope objective and the Aico 35mm F3.5 enlarging lens. I used my Sony A6000, macro bellows and Stackshot to capture the images for stacking in Helicon Focus. Continue reading Fly meets JML 20x objective and Aico 35mm F3.5 enlarging lens
We made a trip to the Bicester garden centre in Bicester Oxford on Saturday, not far from the world famous tourist shopping hotspot Bicester Village. It is interesting that many people coming to England go to Bicester Village to shop, whereas when I go to Bicester, it is normally to the garden centre. As I have just done a test on M42 lenses comparing their UV-transmission, I thought I would also do a test of a few different brands of 35mm F3.5 enlarger lenses (both new and older casing designs) using the same setup, to see if there is much variation in their UV-transmission. Continue reading Lenses: what’s in a brand (35mm F3.5 enlarger lenses)?
There are so many different 35mm F3.5 lenses available out there. Even within the same stable of lenses in a company, you can see different designs which were clearly bought from different manufacturers and then rebadged. Some companies are well known for doing this, such as Prinzgalaxy and Soligor. I thought it was time for another comparison test. Continue reading Lenses: what’s in a brand (35mm F3.5 M42 lenses)?
I thought I would see far I could magnify the petal to capture its details in UV. Hence I shot numerous images for stacking to form each image. These were processed with Helicon Focus to produce the stacked petal images you see below. Lighting was from Quantum X2D flash. Continue reading Rudbeckia Petal structure UV Macro
Previously, I had posted about my collection of 35mm F3.5 lenses. But the Soligor 35mm F3.5 lenses I’ve bought and tested (serial number: 9#####), have some endearing qualities worth mentioning. Continue reading Soligor 35mm F3.5 lens
I did a test of 10 of my UV-capable 35mm F3.5 lenses today. Continue reading Review: 35mm F3.5 lenses UV shootout
I confess. I love collecting 35mm F3.5 lenses – I must have over 30 in my collection now. I mainly buy them to see if they are useful for UV-imaging. And if they are, then I add them onto my collection. Continue reading It’s official – I’m a collector of 35mm F3.5 lenses
