Many people who come to England make it a point to go to the worl famous Bicester Village for shopping – it is a tourist industry in itself. In fact, some would doubt that you have been to England if you had not made a trip to Bicester Vilalge for shopping at the designer outlets there. But although it is fairly close to where we live, we actually prefer to go to another Designer outlet in Swindon as the shops are under one roof (unlike Bicester).
Now the Designer outlet in Swindon has a locomotive theme, as it is situated in the former Great Western Railway Works, with plenty of locomotive parts on display. It is said to have over 90 designer shops situated within its building. There are numerous places to eat, a play area for children, a miniature locomotive ride around the entire outlet, and various locomotive-related memorabilia for those interested in trains.
Scattered throughout the outlet are large Lego models of various things which are sold in the Outlet (e.g. watch, ladies high heels, ladies designer handbag).
Various brands which are represented in this Outlet are: Timberland, Nike, Hugo Boss, Polo Ralph Lauren, Austin Reed, Clarks, Thornton, Whittards, Marks and Spencer, John Lewis just to name a few.
There is also a new store which sells chilli and other spicy foods.
There are things to cater to everyone including the children, which makes it a worthwhile place to visit, particularly if you have certain shopping goals in mind. We do tend on occasion to bring friends and relatives visiting us to this place. Just be prepared that it will take a few hours at least to go through all the stores.
