Street photography

Street photography is an area of photography that I have to confess to not having much experience in. There are many people who walk around with either a 35mm or 50mm prime lens for street photography. As I did not bring either for this trip, I decided to do this using my zoom lens; I brought only two cameras for this trip – my main camera is the Sony A7R, and the other is my full-spectrum Olympus E-PL5 with kit lens and 650nm infrared filter. The B+W processing of the Sony A7R images was done using Capture One Pro 8 from the Sony RAW file, rather than in-camera, as it allows me to select the look I would like.

Somehow, I like the infrared look and the B+W look when doing street photography, as it gives a different perspective to the photography and helps to bring certain subjects into the fore of your attention than when shot in colour. I will need to practice this during the remainder of the trip.
