Liberty Island is actually a great location to take photos of the Statue Cruise ships that sail there and which return to the mainland. The one photographed below was carrying tourists to the island - best to stand on the right side of the ship as it affords the best views of the Island.
As we did not wish to go up the Statue of Liberty itself, we wandered around the island to take photos and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
To be standing right below the Statue of Liberty and to gaze up at her was the highlight of the trip to New York. This is definitely worth the visit and one my family and I will remember for a long time - I was particularly pleased to have taken many keeper photos from this trip as memories.
