I have to say that I am a person who spends a lot of time sitting/lying in front of the television, computer or tablet. This is very sedentary and not a very healthy way to spend my time. Hence I have been looking at ways which will allow me to exercise while watching television or using my iPad. Hence I bought the Power ball pico for £10.99, to exercise while doing the above activities.
So what is a power ball? It is a plastic ball about the size of a tennis ball which has a gyroscope inside it. You set this into motion using a cord to start the spinning, and then use wrist action to build its speed up. The faster the speed, the more inertial resistance it generates which you will have to fight against with your fingers, hand, wrist and arms. This can give a great work-out, simply by rotating the power ball in your hand.
Previously I had bought a strength ball for its novelty (over 3 years ago); this was a copy of the power ball. This feels too large for my hands and was not very comfortable to hold when it is spinning very fast. Hence I decided to buy the Power ball pico, which is much smaller but still able to generate enough resistance to give a good exercise.
When it is spinning, it does have a few coloured LEDs which light up. And the great thing about this is that there are different ways to hold the power ball to exercise different muscle groups, simply by keeping the arm flexed or extended while spinning it.
I had previously injured my right wrist and have not been able to exercise that hand very much. But with the power ball, I am able to really give this hand and my arm a good work out. Now I do not feel as unhealthy when watching television or using the iPad, as I can exercise my arms enough for it to ache. And the pico is small enough for children to use as well. Highly recommended.
