Painted Lady butterfly

I was out in the garden imaging the sun, when I noticed a Painted lady butterfly (Vanessa card) resting on one of the toys my daughter has lying around in the garden. As there was clouds obscuring the sun at the time, I decided to run upstairs to get my full spectrum Olympus E-M5 to shoot the butterfly with my various filters.

This butterfly has orange, black and white-spotted wings, and is found in most continents except South America. They are strong flyers capable of long flights.

So this is how this butterfly looks in UV and UV+blue/green. As you would have it, the butterfly could not wait any further and flew off before I could shoot the visible light photos of it. Oh well, maybe next time.
