New Year’s dinner

For dinner tonight, we had a treat. My wife decided to cook a pot of whole large prawns, along with the vegetables/meat hotpot she had cooked. She also had a bottle of Rose Cava from Marks and Spencer to celebrate New Year’s day.

We also had some left over extra hot Beef rendang (flavoured with extra hot Ghost chilli), to go with the rice. The extra two days sitting in the fridge has allowed the flavour to penetrate deep into the meat, which has actually become more tender. Definitely better than when we ate it on Tuesday.

Now when we went to the Champagne region in France a few years ago, we did buy a souvenir which is in the shape of a bunch of grapes (or a tree if you turn it upside down), which has spaces on it to display the caps from champagne and sparkling wine bottles. Over the many years, I have managed to collect quite a few caps, and now it is enough to fill the whole board. This is hanging on a wall in my dining room as decoration.
