Some people eat food to satisfy their hunger. But there are others who feel that food should be fun as well. One of the ways my wife has found recently to make the food fun and interesting, is to cut the food into lovely shapes. Apparently she had bought the Neat Ideas Crafty Cutters from Hobby Craft quite a few months ago but had not opened the packaging. But having taken my daughters to Hobby Craft on Saturday, she was reminded that she needed to use it to prepare food. Hence out it came.
Cost: £4.00 in Hobby Craft
It comes with 5 different shaped cutters (heart, square, circle, triangle and flower) and a plunger to help move the cut food off the actually cutter without breaking it into pieces, so it can be served up. It is said to cut through bread, meat, cheese, vegetables, fruits, cake and more to create professional-style shaped canapes.
That afternoon, my wife decided to surprise my daughter with a lovely meal, by cutting bread and cucumber slices into nice shapes. The effect was much appreciated by my youngest daughter, who scoffed it all down in no time at all, and promptly asked her mum if she could prepare food with the cutter herself.
Now the great thing about the Crafty Cutters is that it is safe for children to use it as well. Below were the shapes my daughter made all by herself. And the greatest bit was that it gave her a great sense of achievement that she had prepared food for her family, and had so much fun doing it at the same time. Now I do not have to say but with food, looks are also important as it does help enhance the taste as well.
The fact that my daughter prepared it for us, just made it taste even better. I would have to say that the Neat Ideas Crafty Cutters are a great idea, which injects fun into food once more, and made my daughter enjoy preparing food – a great idea if you would like to get your children interested in preparing food in the kitchen. It would be a great idea for parties as well. And at £4.00, that is a very small price to pay for having fun with food.
