Margarita

Many years ago when my in-laws came to stay with us in England, I happened to make a cocktail which they really enjoyed and have been reminiscing about ever since. It is the Margarita. Now many years later (must have been at least 8-9 years ago), I decided to make it again.

The ingredients: Tequila 1 1/2 oz, Triple Sec 1/2 oz, freshly squeezed lime juice 1oz, crushed ice in a cocktail shaker and a slice of lime for garnish.

Once the tequila, triple sec and lime juice are added to the crushed ice, it is shaken until cold. As you can see, the metal cocktail shaker does get very cold indeed, so best to hold it with a cloth to protect the hands.

The end product is a lovely cocktail. The salt on the rim is particularly nice. In fact, it is this which makes this cocktail that much more memorable. At least that is what I’m told by my in-laws.

Updated 11/10/15: Not satisfied with the photo of the margarita, I decided to make another one and have photographed it with my indoor studio. This time there is a nice coating of salt along the rim of the cocktail glass.

Having not had this for so many years, it is great to finally make one for photographing and also for drinking. This one’s for my in-laws. Cheers.
