Jacqueline Du Pre Music Building

I had the chance to go to the Jacqueline Du Pre Music Building today, in St Hilda’s College  Oxford. She was famous as a brilliant cellist and an honorary fellow of the college; hence the building was named after her. It is the venue for a series of music concerts, but also serves as the venue for the ABRSM for piano exams. The 200-seat Edward Boyle auditorium houses a Steinway D concert grand piano, which is also used for the piano exams.

This is a lovely college, with beautiful grounds but I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story.

I was pleased to have brought my camera today, as this is a part of Oxford I do not come to very often – the previous time was also for my daughter’s piano exam a few years ago.
