We celebrated my oldest daughter’s birthday recently. For her present this year, I bought her a pair of Jabrox SportRox Bluetooth earbuds. The reason for this is so as to allow her to sync these with her Apple Watch and listen to music.
Before buying or recommending anything, I usually spend a long time researching about what is available, the features and the cost – plus reviews if there are any. Having trawled through the internet about Bluetooth earbuds, I came up with two alternatives for my daughter to choose: The Jaybird Bluebuds X and the Jabra Sport Rox. She chose the Jabra. The cost of this was £86.30 on Amazon UK.
It comes well packaged with all the necessary accessories, including an armband for the Bluetooth music device and EarWings which are meant to stabilise the earbuds during vigorous exercise.
I have to say that these Earbuds are very light, especially when you consider that it has a battery capable of up to 5.5 hours playback or 18 days standby.
The LED and the Micro USB charging point are located on the left earbud. The LED will flash blue then green when it is switched on, or red when you clip the strong magnets of the earbuds together – this serves to put the earbuds into battery saving mode. Hence you can have the earbuds clipped securely around your neck until such time when you are ready to unclip them and start using them. Very clever indeed.
Now it comes with 4 different sizes of EarGels to enable a good fit – my daughter was able to find a pair which suits her ears (and I suspect that this will be the case for most users). The EarWings are to maximise stability when running or doing vigorous exercise – hence my daughter will not be using these at present.
What is good about the Jabra Sport Rox?
1) It is lightweight and produces very good sound quality (according to my daughter).
2) It worked well and is able to connect to the Apple Watch.
3) It requires about 2.5 hrs charging but will allow 5.5 hrs of use or 18 days standby.
4) It has a built-in mic and remote for answering phone calls and adjusting volume.
What could be improved?
Perhaps the battery life could be a bit longer circa 8 hrs, and the actual body of the earbud does feel a bit large and needs a little getting used to. But this is just nit picking as it is a very good pair of earbuds. It definitely pairs up very well with the Apple Watch via Bluetooth.
Definitely a good pair of earbuds and much better than Bluetooth headphones which tend to be very bulky. Recommended.
