First snow in Oxford

There was significant snow fall on Monday night here in Oxford. Hence there was still a good amount of snow present in the morning, covering cars and buildings, as well as on the grass and roads. My daughters were very excited and even Rosie our puppy was enjoying playing out in the snow this morning.

Anyway, I will let the pictures tell the story. It was very cold but it was still a very pleasant walk as I went about taking lots of photos. I managed to use 4 cameras today to do the shooting, which includes my iPhone camera.

Frozen the movie is very popular amongst children here in England. They also like Olaf the snowman. My daughter would sing the song ‘Do you want to build a snowman’ from the movie. We thought we would collect as much snow as we could to make this snowman, as we don’t know if there will be another opportunity this year. Certainly there isn’t enough for them to cancel school, which would mean there is enough snow to do sledging.

The remainder are my attempts at shooting snowflakes closeup. Unfortunately I left it very late and the snow was already starting to melt, so it was not possible to stack the images together.

It has been a very long time since we had enough snow fall to cover the landscape white. But it did not last as most if not all the snow had melted by evening. Who knows if there will be further snow fall to come this year. Hence I had to take the opportunity to take as many photos as I could.
