D-Link Smart Plug DSP-W215

Another item I bought during the Black Friday Sales is the D-Link Smart Plug DSP-W215 for £27.99 (RRP £39.99) from Amazon. There were some features it had which I thought would be useful, but it also has some shortfalls which I was not aware of until after I started using it.

This smart plug from D-Link comes packaged in a rectangular cardboard box which does protect the device from damage during transit.

The first thing that I noted was that this smart plug looked different to the one pictured on the Amazon website – this one has the power button at the bottom rather than the top of the plug, which makes accessing it more challenging as the cable from the plug will be in its way. This is not good from a design point of view.

It has a side Wi-Fi WPS button for automatic pairing with the wireless router. I chose to do the setup manually, so cannot comment on whether this function worked.

They do provide a Quick Install card with the important information and barcode to make the setup simple and straightforward.
