Christmas tree

In my family, it is tradition to put up the Christmas tree on the 1st of December each year. We bought our Christmas tree back in 1998 when we lived in Aylesbury, Bucks. Since then, we started the tradition of buying one new Christmas ornament each year to adorn the tree. There are 17 special ornaments (or sets) added since then,  to add something new to our tree. This tradition has carried on following the birth of our two daughters, who really look forward to this time of year the most, as each can take part in decorating the family Christmas tree.

So out came the Christmas tree from the garage and up went the ornaments, with our old classic Christmas CD playing in the background. Even Rosie our puppy joined in with this (we call her our ‘grand-dog-ter’). Anyway, I’ll leave the photos to tell the story.

We did leave buying this year’s Christmas ornament until the very last minute (as our youngest daughter is still unwell). But we did do this together as a family last night – phew!!! Now the countdown to Christmas and reflecting on the true meaning of Christmas begins.

Equipment: Olympus E-P5, Panasonic 12-35mm F2.8, Olympus 60mm F2.8 Macro, Olympus FL-600R flash. This camera is my goto setup for quick shooting, and with the flash used to light the subject, the ambient lighting is no longer an issue (even with macro shots).
