As is our family tradition, we put up our Christmas tree on the 1st day of December. Each year we also buy a new special decoration to add to the Christmas tree. This year, my oldest daughter had the privilege to select this special Christmas decoration; my youngest chose the decoration last year, and we will all take it in turns to choose. Anyway, here are the pictures of our Christmas tree. And as is part of our tradition, we had the White Christmas music CD playing while we did the decorating. This is an event we all look forward to as a family.
Our Christmas tree has quite a bit of history, as we have owned it for 17 years now. And each year, we add a new decoration to the collection, to remind us of each year that we have had it. So while it is an artificial tree, and rather inexpensive (in fact the price per year is getting smaller with each passing year), it holds a special place in our lives as it has been there all the time my wife and I have been married, and is the tree my children have known all their life. The reason it has lasted this long is because it is kept safe in the garage after it is taken down at the end of Christmas, and stored away until the following year in its original box.
This is the special snow flake decoration my daughter chose for this year. As she picked it, we let her put it on the Christmas tree as well.

And to show the decorations in a different light, I had my youngest daughter assist me with shining my UV torch onto a few of the decorations to show how they fluoresce under that light; I did put a pair of UVEX protective eye wear on my daughter so she was protected from the UV light.

This is the Christmas bauble my youngest daughter chose last year, so she put it on the tree this year as well.

And some of the other decorations.

And the finished Christmas tree in all its glory. Another thing to be thankful for, as we can enjoy putting up the tree together as a family.

This shot was taken with the light coming only from the dining room, so that the Christmas lights can be seen better.

Below is the Advent calendar I bought for my oldest daughter this year – I’m glad she liked it (and the chocolate as well). My youngest had a Frozen Advent calendar, which was hiding behind this one.

We had an enjoyable time putting up the Christmas tree. Hopefully many other families out there will be putting up theirs soon, and having fun doing it as well.
