On the 1st day of December each year, we will take out the Christmas decorations and put up our family tree. We will have the same Christmas CD playing in the background as each of us does our part to decorate our tree. It is the same this year.As has been our tradition each year since 1998, one of us will get a chance to pick the new Christmas decoration to add to the tree. This year it was my oldest daughter who was tasked to pick the new ornament as my youngest daughter chose the ornament last year.
We also picked up some chocolate tree decorations, which we will also put on each year – it gives the children something to pick off the tree to snack on as a treat.
My daughters also picked their own advent calendar. We even picked one up for Rosie our dog, with dog-safe chocolates. My oldest daughter picked the Lindt Advent Calendar as she loves Lindt chocolates.
My youngest daughter picked the Cadbury Dairy Milk Advent calendar, as she does love Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolates.
Rosie’s advent calendar was bought from Pets At Home, and has dog-safe chocolate-flavoured treats.
Below is Rosie’s first chocolate from the advent calendar, which she scoffed down fairly quickly.
To set the mood for decorating the tree, we played the same Christmas CD we play each year – it has become our family tradition. My oldest daughter would protest if we wanted to play something different when decorating the Christmas tree.
As my oldest daughter selected the new bauble this year, it was her privilege to put up this up on the tree.
And in not too long, it is fully done as all of us played our part – while humming and singing to the CD..
Thus is completed our family tradition in preparation for Christmas this year – and it was a time we all enjoyed together as a family.
