One of the often neglected but very useful pieces of camera equipment is the remote control. It gives us the ability to activate the shutter without actually physically touching the camera shutter button. Continue reading Useful accessories: 1) Remote control (Pixel TW-282)
I own a Skywatcher ED80 refractor, which is an 80mm F7.5 telescope with a focal length of 600mm; effective focal length is 1200mm on the Micro 4/3rds system. I bought this as a guide scope for my main astrophotography system. But I normally use this telescope for solar or moon imaging, as it is very easy to set up. I was in the park today shooting the flowers in UV and Insect-D-sight, but had also brought along my Sony A6000 and FE 70-200/4 OSS lens.
Hence I decided to try a few of the picture effects available through the Picture Effect+ App, which is free to download via the Playmemories App. There are a total of 13 effects: Partial colour, HC B+W, Soft focus, HDR Painting, Rich B+W, Miniature+, Watercolor, Illustration, Toy camera+, Pop colour, Posterization, Retro photo and Soft High-Key+.
I like this lens. Particularly with the Phigment Tech Leica M-E-mount adapter, as it makes the adjustment of manual focus so much easier. This lens is also very sharp wide open, with much less chromatic aberration than other F1.4 lenses I have used (Contax Zeiss 50/1.4, Sony 85/1.4 Zeiss). Continue reading Sony A7R + Leica 50mm Summilux ASPH
Earlier this year, I bought a set of Phottix Odin wireless triggers ( one transmitter and two receivers) to use with the Sony A7R, HVL-58AM and HVL-F43AM flash. Continue reading Review: Phottix Odin for Sony
I have a daughter who loves attracting birds into our back garden. She has even used her own pocket money to buy bird food for this. Her mum bought her a bird feeder for her birthday this year, and this is kept stocked up with food for the birds. Continue reading Sony A6000 remote control app
