I am sure many of us have a childhood memory which has stuck in our mind all these years – which means it must have been very significant. Mine was of the time my paternal grandmother (I was her favourite grand child) had kept a home-made cookie which her friend had baked specially for her, for me to eat. That was the best cookie I had ever eaten. And I have been looking for cookies which taste like that ever since – bearing in mind I was 8 to 9 years old then.
After all that searching and numerous disappointments, I have finally found a cookie (or should I say Galette), which comes closest to that cookie I had so many years ago. And that is the Bonne Maman traditional French Galette.
The taste, texture and crunch are excellent. Best cookie money can buy that I’ve found so far. Definitely comes oh so close to that cookie from many years ago. It is sold in numerous supermarkets in England, but sadly I only discovered this week that our local Sainsburys no longer stocks this. Very sad indeed. I will need to find another source for these.
