Recently my family celebrated my birthday with me. My wife took a day of leave from work and we spent a great day together. The weather was fantastic with clear blue skies and sun shining brightly. The feast started with a great lunch prepared by my wife.Lunchtime:
For lunch, we went to buy some food from Marks & Spencers: Calamari rings, prawns and vegetable salad. To this, my wife added in grapes, tomatoes, leafy salad, cucumber slices and a nice red juicy apple. It was a great healthy lunch.
As the weather was so good, we felt strawberries and champagne would be a great idea; it is something which makes us think of the Wimbledon Tennis tournament.
This combination just works so well. Nice.
For the dinner, my wife and youngest daughter made home-made lasagne. It was definitely worth waiting for.
I have to say that you can’t beat home-made lasagne. Very satisfying and goes well with leafy salad.
I had opened a nice bottle of 2005 Bordeaux wine from the Marguax region the day before to go with the steak I had cooked. But a day later, this wine had opened up even more and was even better – it went very well with the lasagne.
For dessert, my wife bought the Taste the Difference Blueberry cheesecake from Sainsburys. This is probably my favourite cheesecake, as it just tastes so good.
Just look at that lovely slice of cheesecake – nice biscuit base which complements the moist, fluffly cheesy top layer.
That was a great day.
