This year as my wife was working Christmas eve, we decided to have our Christmas meal on Christmas day itself. As neither of us were working on Christmas day, we could sit back, relax and enjoy the lovely food throughout the day. Below are the photos of the food we had for Christmas. Here is wishing everyone a Merry Christmas filled with lots of good cheer, joy and laughter. Have a wonderful time. I shall have lots more to post, as there will be plenty of ‘toys’ to play with and review. Sadly we do not have a white Christmas this year, and our snowman Albert had completely melted about three days before Christmas. But we are filled with joy and feel God’s blessings for us as a family. I leave you with 3 photos to commemorate this festive occasion.
Saying goodbye to our snowman Albert.
Having used the Coravin wine system for a few weeks now, I have to say that it has given me a new excitement about wine – this is truly a game changer. There are a few things which I have learnt about this system which I would like to share with you. In particular, I have thought on how to get the most out of this system, and will be sharing my thoughts about this. Continue reading Coravin Wine Dispensing System – 5 things I’ve learnt about it
With the cold snap coming to England, there was warning that there would be snow fall expected on Sunday. Hence on Sunday morning, we woke up unsurprisingly to our neighbourhood completely covered in snow. And the snow just kept on falling. In the morning, I took the opportunity to take my daughter sledging in our village park, and in the afternoon after lunch to build our first snow man in many years in our back garden. Previously, my Withing Steel HR watch had developed a condensation problem inside it, which made it difficult to read the time. Compound that with some scratches to the watch glass sustained when I went swimming during our holiday in America, and I could not wait for Nokia to release the replacement watch. And finally I received the notice from Nokia (who bought over Withing) that they were finally shipping the replacement watch for the Steel HR. It has taken a while but it is finally here. It is that time of year again when our Christmas tree comes out of storage and we decorate it together as a family. This year our youngest daughter had the privilege to choose the new Christmas decoration for the year – a tradition we have had since 1998 (last 20 years). Continue reading Christmas Tree
Recently I noted that during the early Black Friday sale on Amazon.co.uk, there was a Sony Playstation VR Starter Pack selling for £249.99. Bearing in mind the VR headset normally retails for £349 and the PS camera which is required for VR play costs a further £39, that package looked awfully tempting – particularly as it also included the VR Worlds game and Gran Turismo Sport, easily saving over £180 compared to when these are bought separately. Hence I bought one from Amazon, so my family and I could experience VR together. Continue reading Sony Playstation VR Starter Pack
Now many years ago, I had bought the Logitech G27 steering wheel to use with the Sony Playstation 3. While it worked reasonably well, it was let down by the slow response and refresh rate of the TV which made the games not very enjoyable, and at times did induce motion-sickness. With the processing power of the Sony PS4 paired with the LG OLED TV with its short lag time and high refresh rate (which we now have), we should be able to get the most out of the driving games. But as my Logitech G27 does not work natively with the PS4, and I did not wish to spend a big sum of money buying another steering wheel, I had to look for a solution. I was exctied to find that the Cronusmax Plus which retails on Amazon.co.uk for £49.99, would be able to do this. I also had to buy the Targus 4-port USB Hub £7.84 which will be needed to make this setup work. Continue reading Cronusmax Plus – Logitech G27 Wheel on Sony PS4
I have to confess that I enjoy collecting wine more than drinking it. Part of the reason for this is that once a bottle of wine is opened, it needs to be finished fairly quickly – otherwise it will oxidize and no longer be enjoyable to drink. Hence I have been on the quest for something which makes the wine last longer. But all of the ones I’ve tried have one flaw – the bottle needs to be uncorked to access the wine which will introduce air into the bottle. When I first became aware of the Coravin Wine System last Friday (it was featured in an article in the Metro newspaper), it definitely piqued my interest as it overcomes this problem, at least for the wines bottled with a cork.
