3-course dinner

As it was my turn to cook again on Tuesday, I took inspiration from the movie Men in Black 3. There is this scene in the movie where Agent K and Agent J went into a diner to get some pie. Agent K ended up ordering a slice of apple pie with cheddar. That gave me a craving for apple pie (or rather tart). Hence I decided that we were going to gave a 3-course dinner.

Starter:

Home-made Tomato & Basil soup

Main course:

Sous vide duck breasts, garnished with cashew nuts, cucumber slices and air-fried french fries

Wine:

Peregine Central Otago Pinot Noir 2005 – aroma of dark cherries and mocha, with dark cherries and plum on the palate. There was definite tannin still present despite being 10 years old. Definitely pairs well with the duck.

Dessert:

Apple tart with delicious clotted cream Cornish ice cream. A very nice combination indeed.

Now as we are not used to having dessert, the third course definitely filled us up to the brim. But it was all down to watching that movie – that’s my excuse anyway.
