Recently I was aware that Jupiter was approaching opposition, where it is closest in its orbit to the earth. Hence I wanted to take the opportunity to do some imaging of this in mono with LRGB filters. So instead of the Samyang 135mm F2 lens, I switched over to my 8″ Ritchey-Chretien astrograph. Dog gone mad (or cat)?
Even in the tiny village that we live in, there are things happening which are just so out of the ordinary. Just the other day I happened to look out the window while having my morning cup of coffee. And I saw the strangest and also rather alarming thing. Initially I thought to myself – that is too big to be a bird. Could it be an escaped monkey or other such animal? Happy Mothers Day – in the UK
I am posting this when it will be Sunday in Singapore and Malaysia. Here I would like to wish all the mothers in the world a Happy Mother’s day (UK), particularly to my mum, mother-in-law and my wife. To celebrate this special day, where we remember all that our mothers have done for us, I have posted a picture of the Heart nebula (IC1805) which I had imaged recently using narrowband filters. During Chinese New year, there will always be many different pastries and treats to be enjoyed. For me, the one thing I look forward to the most would be the nice tasty pineapple tarts. Now these do come in many different varieties, with each tasting very different, be it the pastry or the pineapple filling. Here I am sharing about the 5 different ones I have had the opportunity to taste recently. Continue reading Pineapple tarts – 5 different kinds
Cone nebula – NGC 2264
I had an opportunity to image the Cone nebula and Christmas tree cluster in narrowband recently using the Samyang 135mm F2 lens. In total I had taken 25 x 3 min H-alpha, 24 x 3 min O-III and 20 x 3 min S-II subs for stacking (total 3hr 27 min exposure). I used Gain 200 on my ASI178MM-cooled @ -25 degrees Celsius.
