Another interesting microscope objective my friend loaned to me is the Leitz 20x quartz objective. This microscope objective, however is an infinity corrected objective which needs to be stacked with another lens in order to achieve sharp focus. Hence I stacked this together with my Coastal Optics 60mm F4 APO lens to maximise the UV-transmission. Continue reading Leitz 20x Quartz microscope objective

Green cushion mum
This is an interesting flower that I have managed to add to my flower gallery. It is very UV-dark but in other light spectra, it looks much more interesting. As usual, these were shot indoors and were stacked in Helicon Focus. Continue reading Green cushion mum

I recently became aware of another flash made for Smartphones – this one will work with both iPhone and Android phones. Pink gerbera
This is another interesting flower I have managed to photograph, particularly the UV-induced visible fluorescence. In fact, it is probably the flower I found to be the most interesting. As usual, these were shot in my indoor studio. Continue reading Pink gerbera
Carl Zeiss Ultrafluar 10x microscope objective
Now that I own a Stackshot and can shoot extreme macro in a more controlled manner, I thought I would try my hand at extreme macro using other types of objectives. Hence my friend lent me a few of his microscope objectives to see how they would perform. One of these is the Carl Zeiss Ultrafluar 10x microscope objective, which being a quartz objective, transmits UV from 240nm all the way up to the infrared range. Continue reading Carl Zeiss Ultrafluar 10x microscope objective

This is a yellow chrysanthemum from the Mother’s day bunch. I have photographed it in my indoor studio here. Continue reading Yellow chrysanthemum
Stackshot – automated focus stacking macro rail
I have been thinking of getting a Stackshot to aid my macro photography for a very long time, particularly when I am shooting at extreme magnifications. The cost has been putting me off for quite a while but I have managed to get one at a very good price. Hence I took the plunge. Continue reading Stackshot – automated focus stacking macro rail
Orange gerbera
Another flower from the Mother’s day bunch which I managed to photograph is the orange gerbera. It is a lovely flower, particularly the center which I could not wait to image in UV-induced visible fluorescence. Continue reading Orange gerbera

Red chrysanthemum
This is another flower from the Mother’s day bunch, and one I have never photographed before. Hence I have now added this to my collection of flowers I’ve photographed. Continue reading Red chrysanthemum
